Itinerary
DAY 1 - Depart the USADepart the USA for Amsterdam. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journey DAY 2 - Arrive in Amsterdam Arrive in Amsterdam and transfer independently to the port located near the Amsterdam Passenger Terminal. Embarkation begins at 4 pm. Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner on board, as well as a Dutch Folklore show.(D) DAY 3 - Morning in Amsterdam, Afternoon in Volendam This morning enjoy free time in Amsterdam, known for its many cultural sites, art museums, entertainment and of course its scenic canals. Continue sailing around noon and cruise along the Ijsselmeer River before arriving to Volendam at 3:30 pm. Volendam is home to an old Dutch fishing village where the town inhabitants continue to dress in traditional clothing. Perhaps, enjoy a walk through town during the afternoon. This evening set sail for Arnhem.(B,L,D) Optional: Amsterdam City Tour with canal cruise Optional: Holland Waterland excursion DAY 4 - Düsseldorf and Cologne Relax on board this morning as you sail the scenic Rhine River. This afternoon, the ship will make a stop in Düsseldorf, one of Germany's most populous cities. Numerous corporations call this city home, however the heart of its people can be found in the Old Town where residents gather at clusters of restaurants, bars and galleries. Continue on to Cologne, one of Germany's oldest cities known for its vibrant art scene. This evening set sail at 10 pm.(B,L,D) Optional: Düsseldorf & Cologne City tour DAY 5 - Afternoon in Cochem This afternoon, arrive in Cochem, a quaint German town known best for its late-Gothic castle and restored timber-framed houses. The town has a beautiful setting amid vine-clad hills, and is best known for its cozy wine taverns and colorful riverside promenades. The town has three fortified gates, quaint narrow alleys and beautiful half timbered houses. Set sail this evening at 7:30 pm.(B,L,D) Optional: Cochem city walk DAY 6 - Morning in Koblenz, Evening in Rüdesheim This morning, arrive in Koblenz, the site where the Mosel River flows into the Rhine River. The city has many great examples of Romanesque design, imposing defensive towers and the impressive Castle of the Electors. Set sail for Rüdesheim at 11:00 am and relax on board this afternoon. In the early evening, arrive to Rüdesheim, a lively wine village located in the heart of the Rhine River area. Set sail at 10 pm.(B,L,D) Optional: Koblenz city walk Optional: Rüdesheim City Tour DAY 7 - Morning in Mannheim, Afternoon in Speyer This morning arrive to Mannheim located at the meeting point of the Rhine and Neckar Rivers. Mannheim is full of streets lined with Baroque architecture. The water tower is the civic symbol of this city and is located just east of the city center. The city also boasts one of the loveliest parks in Europe, the Luisenpark. The park contains numerous rose arboretums, the picturesque Chinese Tea House and the 675-foot tall Telecommunications Tower. Sail to Speyer at 1:00 pm. Originally inhabited by the Celts around 500 B.C., the city is most famous for its beautiful red sandstone Cathedral, which remains a fine example of Romanesque architecture and is undoubtedly the city's most prized landmark as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This evening, set sail for Strasbourg and enjoy the captains gala dinner with crew and a show.(B,L,D) Optional: Mannheim City Tour (Excursions operate at the same time) Optional: Heidelberg City Tour (Excursions operate at the same time) Optional: Speyer city walk DAY 8 - Full Day in Strasbourg Today enjoy a full day in Strasbourg. Straddling French and German culture, the entire city center of Strasbourg has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Of special note is the staggering Gothic Cathedral, an exquisite example of late Gothic architecture. For over 200 years the Cathedral stood as the world's tallest building, and it currently houses one of the finest astronomical clocks in existence. There are many other medieval churches to be seen here, as well as the former town hall set in the German renaissance style. Set sail for Basel at 6 pm.(B,L,D) Optional: Strasbourg City Tour Optional: Alsace excursion DAY 9 - Depart for the USA This morning, disembark in Basel and transfer independently to the airport for your departure flight. Disembarkation will end at 9:30 am.(B)
